Sakura, hello
You’re so popular at this time of year
But I wonder what you think of us.
We write about you, we talk about you, we dedicate poems to you
But we talk only about your outer appearance
Once a year.
What of the moments when you grow in silence?
What of the times that you look like everyone else?
Is it a limitation of you or of ourselves that we only want you to be different
To be delicate, cute, and a display?
Sakura, I love you
I wish to let you know
That even if you aren’t blooming
That I love you.
That you don’t have to be beautiful for me to remember you
And for you to be worthy of my love
Existing, that’s enough.
